FT. MIKE BOYD & D-SISIVE
Spotty G / TempoMental / Bobby Vintage / O-Beast

<<<<<<<<<Mike Boyd>>>>>>>>>>
Mike Boyd is an emcee and lyricist from Enfield, NS. He is also the younger brother of hip hop star, Classified and is best known for his appearances and co-writes on several
hit tracks including, “Inner Ninja”(Certified 3 x Platinum), “3 Foot Tall” (Certified Gold), ʻFamiliar”, “Sibling Rivalry” and “Live It Up”. Over the last decade Mike Boyd has joined Classified on stage and toured around the world. As Classifiedʼs dynamic hype-man, Mike adds an undeniable energy to every live performance. His long history touring alongside Classified has allowed the brothers to develop an unparalleled chemistry, and established Mike as a force unto himself on stage.

Mike Boyd steps out from his brotherʼs shadow with the release of his album “Note The Sarcasm” on March 25th via Halflife Records/Universal. This project is full of Mikeʼs
trademark wit, crude humor and of course, sarcasm. Produced by Classified, this
album reaffirms Mike Boydʼs place amongst the strongest and most exciting emcees in Canada. The album includes features from Classified, Shad, Madchild, Kayo, D-Sisive
and Naledge – the hip hop community is out in full force to support Mikeʼs solo endeavour.

When asked about his first foray into solo work since 2008ʼs “Lost In The Woods”, Mike Boyd explained, “I found myself being inspired to write my solo stuff again after the
birth of my son Mason. I spend a lot of time in the studio anyways, but for this record I started going through some of Classifiedʼs beats that no one had picked before. We
picked some, re-worked some of the production and songs began to take on a new life.”Key tracks include the self-deprecating introductions, “Mr. Mike” and “Small World” (ft. Madchild and D-Sisive) and the powerful “Fly Like A Butterfly”. Featuring exclusive production by Classified, “Note The Sarcasm” brings the heat both lyrically and musically.“My goal was to create good ol' fashion hip hop tracks, beats and rhymes, hopefully fans catch that vibe."

Visit mikeboydhiphop.com for more information.

<<<<<<<<<<<D-sisive>>>>>>>>>>>>
There was a time in Derek Christoff's life when he didn't have many words. It's not that he didn't have a story. But he was stuck on the start. In the late 90s, the young MC known as D-Sisive came up quickly in the Toronto hip-hop
community with a string of well-liked singles, but his burgeoning profile was stopped cold with the illness and death of both of his parents in a six-year span. Grief and
depression stole his creativity and motivation for the better part of a decade, but in a moment fit for fable, his lyrical inspiration returned suddenly one day while singing along
to the Beach Boys on the radio. It was the new start D-Sisive's story needed. And he hasn't stopped since.

2008's The Book EP was nominated for a Juno and its single "Nobody With A Notepad" won the SOCAN ECHO Songwriting Prize. 2009's Let the Children Die was longlisted for that year's Polaris Music Prize (and would later get an elaborate send-off with a full-
band live funeral after legal issues forced it out of production). The same year, he released Jonestown as a free download. Less than a year later, we got Vaudeville, and a year after that, the Jonestown sequel, Jonestown 2: Jimmy Go Bye Bye, back and forth between his story and others'. Along the way were a series of Hijacked singles,
with D-Sisive rapping his own words over the music of such songs as Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks" and Sigur Ros' "Festival," an homage to just some of his comprehensive
influences and tastes.

November 2011 brings D-Sisive's latest, Run With the Creeps. It's a deeper dive back into himself, and with his wide-open online look at the creative process along the way, his most honest yet. The hunger, pain, humour, and scrutiny have been on display every day; he's forever brazen in ambition and as credulous as a kid. He's writing the whole thing down, sparing no detail and certainly no time. D-Sisive is a disciple of hip-hop and a Bowie devotee. His eleven-year-old imagination was captured by Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff's "Nightmare On My Street," and later, by a legendary punk spectacle as heard on Creep single "GG Allin." There's something new everyday, and so he's running, trying to keep up with himself, trying to connect with his fellow creeps. There was a time he didn't have these words; didn't know how to say
them. So now he's making sure he doesn't miss even one.

The Rebel Spell (B.C) wsg Jon Creeden & Straight Jacket

Mon Nov 10th
Fvck You Too Presents:The Rebel Spell came together in 2002 in East Vancouver, Coast Salish Territories. We are passionate about DIY culture, community building and social change.

Jon Creeden - Jon Creeden's lung capacity could rival that of the Big Bad Wolf, except when he huffs and puffs every house comes down regardless of construction materials. With just an acoustic guitar, a restless DIY work ethic, and a voice like gravel thats been dipped in honey Creeden has been touring, recording, playing, driving, singing, screaming, drinking, dancing, crashing on couches, and winning people over relentlessly for over seven years now, and there are no sign of him slowing down. Jon Creeden plays the kind of music that makes summer feel warmer, The kind of music that keeps a house party raging until dawn. The kind of music that leaves you hoarse from singing along. His new split 7" Home with Jesse LeBourdais is out now on My Fingers My Brain Records

Straight Jacket - London based punk band.  THese guys are seriously talented.  VERY obviously inspired by The Clash, keep your eyes on this up and coming band because they are sure to make waves in the London music scene!

O.M (Australian Triphop), Davey Brat of Brat Attack (Newfoundland), The Biddulph Peace Society (London, ON)

OM - Australia/B.C - OM is a dynamic musical collective fusing elements of hip hop, soul, electronica, and world instruments to create a mesmerizing and groove-heavy sound. Their extensive world travels serve as inspiration for their socially, environmentally, and spiritually conscious message, conveyed through soul stirring lyrics and rich soundscapes.
Rolling earthy rhythms cast forth from Orion Miller’s didgeridoos merge with the dirty dubby bass lines of Marina Miller’s synths, and are held together by Connor Johnston’s drum beats from deep inside the pocket. With hip hop verses to empower the people, bold harmonies, and creative use of dual loop pedals, OM sounds more like a trip-hop orchestra than a three piece band. Their electro-influenced beat box grooves, shredding keyboards, crunchy guitar, fretless and funky basses inspire dance moves as soon as the bass drops.

Secret Colours @ The APK

Emanating from the windy city of Chicago, IL, USA, Secret Colours is an independently run music collective who has progressed from their roots in rock, constantly striving to innovate their sound. Since their inception in 2010, the band has worked to collaborate its contemporary range of personalities guided by the leadership of the group’s core members, Tommy Evans & Justin Frederick. The collective has appeared with the likes of Ringo Deathstarr, Elephant Stone, Spindrift, Asteroid #4, the Raveonettes, the Night Beats, Warpaint and The Warlocks. Concurrently they worked with producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Gomez, Sage Francis, Iron & Wine) to sharpen the edges of their polychromatic sophomore album, Peach - released May 28th, 2013.

With the release of Positive Distractions, Secret Colours craft a sound that reaches far beyond the industrial city limits of their hometown of Chicago, IL. Recorded at Dandy Sounds Studio in Dripping Springs, TX by Producer Dan Duszynski, they have taken a direction with their new album by relying much more on the live spirit that swells from the stage. Taking musical cues from indie rock, psychedelia and garage and fusing them into an album that is truly unique, the album is unlike anything the band has put to tape. Positive Distractions takes its listeners through a myriad of melodies. Songs like “Into You” and “I Know What You Want” are homages to their BritPop influences while opening song “City Slicker” has all the cool of ‘60s psych-pop followed up by “It Can’t Be Simple” complete with a jabbing organ. Secret Colours is eager to celebrate the much leaner four-piece collective, vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Tommy Evans and drummer Justin Frederick rounded out by newcomers Eric Hehr (bass) and Mike Novak (guitar).

The Stogies (Nova Scotia) @ The APK

Every now and then a band comes along, unwilling to accept the notion that Rock N' Roll is dead. It may be dormant or slowly evolving but The Stogies are here to wake that beast up and shake it by its burly beard. Long hours spent in a hazy, rural Nova Scotian shed listening to Zeppelin, the Stones, the Black Crowes and even the White Stripes have fuelled their penchant for creating genuine rock n ' roll, chock-full of loud guitars, thunderous drums and wailing vocals.

After recording a few demos and auditioning drummers in 2010; Blake Johnston (vocals/guitar), Dave Driscoll (guitar/vocals), Sean Carver (bass) and newly recruited, Dave Lidstone (drums) played as many shows around Nova Scotia as they could. One of these included, Riverfest where they were awarded the People's Choice Award for best band at the festival as they left the parking lot. The boys were soon spotted at New Music Tuesdays at the Seahorse Tavern by Troy Arseneault who offered to produce an EP for them with co-producer/ mixing engineer, Mike MacDougall and engineer Brad Stevens. The band then spent most of 2011 recording at Fortress Studios and touring the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. Their debut EP "No Couth, No Class, No Nothin" was released in August 2011, supported by the release of their first single “Any Old Friends” and a maritime and Ontario release tour leading up to a showcase at Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music week 2011.

“I wish every artist in Canada were as remotely talented, hip, clever and succinct as the Stogies. This is rock and roll the way it should STILL be played” Cashbox Canada Magazine

“No Couth No Class No Nothin’ is an album that belongs in everyone’s collection.”

While making use of the winter months to write more music, The Stogies expanded their roster adding young NSCC Music graduate, Jason Keddy on piano and organ. The band kick started 2012 with the new lineup and new material, headlining their first sold out show at The Seahorse Tavern. Relentless touring followed in the spring and summer months including an Eastern Canadian Tour and slots at multiple Canadian festivals such as the acoustic Suitecase at the 2012 ECMA's in Moncton NB, Come Together Music Festival 2012 in Durham ON, Q104 Keith's Natal Day Festival in Halifax, NS and Toronto's biggest summer music festival, North By Northeast 2012. Most recently, The Stogies won the Road to Indie Week battle series for the east coast, gaining them some cash and a headlining slot at the East Coast Showcase at Indie Week in Toronto. They went on to place 2nd overall among 9 other finalists at the Tattoo Rock Parlour. In addition, the boys have managed to secure supporting slots for some nationally recognized acts such as The Stanfields, Wintersleep, The Mahones, The Mudmen, Steven Page, Carmen Townsend and Gloryhound.

"They were smoking onstage in a psychedelic, Wolfmother-ish kind of way. A good start to the weekend!" - Gilles Leblanc -Musicemissions.com
NXNE Review

“With thick-cut slabs of guitar and a 70’s Motor City vibe, the Stogies may have had some wondering if Grand Funk Railroad had commandeered a time machine to appear on the harbourside stage. – Stephen Cooke – The Chronicle Herald
